The Partnership Saskatoon Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) was created through a bylaw of the City of Saskatoon in June 1986, after enabling legislation was passed by the Provincial Government. The Partnership boundaries include everything from the South Saskatchewan River on the South and East, 25th Street on the North and Idylwyld Drive on the West, and make up Saskatoon’s first Business Improvement District. The BID is financed by a levy on commercially taxed properties within its area and is governed by a Board of Management comprised of people who represent businesses operating inside its boundaries. The Partnership strives to make Downtown the place where business can thrive and people want to work, live and enjoy themselves in Saskatoon. The Partnership works with various departments within the City of Saskatoon to keep Downtown issues at the forefront with the City. Downtown has an eclectic mix of retail, service and professional businesses as well as a significant portion of the office square footage of Saskatoon. As the cultural hub of the city, Downtown Saskatoon is recognized for its many festivals and events, as well as, hosting the city’s permanent visual and performance arts venues. The Partnership through its various programs and projects encourages people to Experience Downtown.
