Optical Eyeworks was founded by Ali Merali an optician with 22 years’ experience and a graduate from Georgian College Optician Program. The team includes: Dr. Hutchinson: Growing up on the shores of Lake Huron, Dr. Hutchinson earned his Bachelor of Science degree with Honours where he majored in Biomedical Sciences. He then moved to Chicago to obtain his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry, graduating with Honors. Hutchinson has gained a great deal of experience in corneal disease and contact lens fittings from his internship at the Centre for Cornea and Contact Lens Excellence in Chicago. Furthermore, he has received extensive training in the diagnosis, management and treatment of ocular disease while completing his training at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Hospital in Michigan and the Illinois Eye Institute Advanced Care Clinic. It was here that he received his training in the use of oral and ocular therapeutics to treat ocular disease and is licensed to do so in Ontario. Hutchinson is an active member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario. He is board certified to practice in Canada as well as the United States. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Anne, as well as exercising and playing sports including golf, tennis, and basketball.
