Pearl Castle, specializing in Taiwanese tea, opened in May of 1996 at Parker Place food court. With over 100 flavours of specialty drinks to choose from, Pearl Castle quickly transformed the Asian beverages industry with freshly-made pearls contributing to an industry boom towards bubble tea. In November of 1997, Pearl Castle Café was opened at Continental Centre, marking the first official restaurant.
