Shelley Patterson started Dessart Sweets in 2002. Sure, she had a sweet tooth (or two). And on more than one occasion she had gone on excursions to local convenience stores for the good ol’ candy from her childhood...the Fun Sticks, the Gold Mine Gum, the Pop Rocks (remember how popularity in elementary school rose and fell depending on whether or not you possessed Pop Rocks?)...and alas, she did not find what she was looking for. So, she opened a store. Not just any store. A stupendous candy store. And she searched the globe for great candy—old and new. And that’s how Dessart Sweets came to be.
