In the spring of 1998, The Surf Shop was opened in Qualicum Beach, B.C. by Colin and Sabine Kearns. After two and a half years at their downtown location, a struggling economy and expiring lease encouraged the pair to find an alternative means of continuing business. The Kearns opted to close their retail location, but continued renting surf gear to their many loyal customers directly from their home. 
Island Surf Company is a cool and knowledgeable surf shop in Qualicum Beach. Customers praise the friendly and knowledgeable staff, large selection of products, and top-quality items. The shop has a great atmosphere and provides convenient services such as gear rentals and evening drop-offs. The owners and staff are lovely and caring, creating an amazing environment. The products are always of high quality and the shop is a must-visit for both locals and tourists.
