The farm was purchased in 1920 by Herbert Watford, a Toronto businessman originally from Woodstock, Ontario, with a passion for agriculture. Herbert and his wife Mabel (Peppiatt) moved to the farm in 1923, along with Herbert’s father Absilon Johnston Watford. Herbert and Mabel were second-generation Canadians both of whose families originated in England. 
Silver Stream Farms is a popular farm destination known for its delicious frozen treats, fresh fruits, and vegetables, although some find it expensive. The farm is accessible via boat or car. Donuts, particularly blueberry and cinnamon flavors, are highly praised, along with the famous Peaches & Cream corn and homemade butter tarts. Most customers appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, even if the service is not always prompt or lacking politeness. Sandwiches require prior call-ins.
