Family owned and operated Fully inspected and a member in good standing of Recommended in Janette Higgins' The Doctors Inn was built in 1876 by Dr. William Lang, the first Doctor of Owen Sound. Today the 26 room Victorian home still maintains all of its original charm and elegance. In the 1980's a new addition was built on to the original home so the owners could operate a small nursing home. In 1999 the nursing home had closed and the house was put on the market. The Vervaeke family fell in love with the house and the grounds and saw the possibilities. They just knew it would be an ideal Bed and Breakfast. Since opening the B&B, the Vervaeke family has gained a reputation among their guests for both their warm hospitality and sumptuous breakfasts. The smell of cinnamon buns cooking and coffee brewing will lead you down the hall to the comfortable Victorian dining room, complete with 12 foot ceilings and a large bay window. Laurie loves to cook and bake and Steve is an excellent assistant. They use locally grown fruits and vegetables whenever possible. From spinach frittata, apple pancakes, Belgian waffles and cinnamon sticky buns to granola, yogurt and fresh fruit; you will never forget the breakfasts at The Doctor's Inn!
