Featherston is a multifaceted, multicultural, inclusive elementary school that opened its doors in 1964 to students living in the southeast sector of the City of Ottawa. Featherston currently serves 360 students enrolled in programs from kindergarten to grade 8. All programs are respectful of ministry mandated curriculum and are based on expectations that reflect an integrated approach to learning. The timetable is responsive to the individual needs of all students. In the fall of 1985 the first Middle French Immersion program was established at Featherston School for students entering grade 4. The M.F.I. program has expanded to include students from grade 4 through to grade 8. In the same year Featherston welcomed the first board administered elementary program for children with Autism.
