Before Len's Mill Stores, there was Norfolk Knitters - a manufacturer of children's clothing in Port Dover, Ontario. Len Menary took over the business from the original 5 owners in 1970, and opened a small outlet store to accompany it. In 1974 heavy industry came to Port Dover, and Norfolk Knitters was unable to remain competitive - but at the urging of his customers, Len focused his attention on the retail business.

Len's Mill Store is a large fabric and sewing supply shop with an extensive range of fabrics, buttons, ribbons, yarns, and craft supplies. Customers praise the store for its huge selection, reasonable prices, and friendly and knowledgeable staff. Some mention the store as a 'Costco of fabrics' due to the variety and abundance of offerings.
