Our Story Established in 2005, New Circles is a not-for-profit social service agency that helps residents of Flemingdon Park, Thorncliffe Park and Victoria Village who need our support. New Circles was founded on two programs, the Clothing Program and Holiday Angel Program, which continue to be cornerstones of the work we do today. Our founder and Board of Directors member, Cindy Blakely envisioned a welcoming space, where low income residents could access basic necessities with dignity and respect. New Circles continues to meet that vision and has expanded to include a range of programs offering connections and opportunities for skills development to community members. Charitable Registration Number: 83634 3673 RR0001 Our Mission To create new circles and successful beginnings by welcoming, supporting and connecting individuals and families with the resources they need Our Vision Building strong and caring communities where everyone has access to the basic necessities Our Values Respect: For the people we serve, the agencies, schools and organizations we work with and the staff, volunteers and donors who support us. Caring: For the people who live and work in the communities that we serve. Integrity: Create a safe, non judgmental, environment that ensures honest and open communication with all of our stakeholders while also maintaining client confidentiality. The Oasis Clothing Bank is one of the more visible community support initiatives started by Andonis Artemakis back in 2000 supporting the work and programs of the Oasis Addiction Recovery Society. “I felt there was little recognition for the many barriers that are faced by individuals struggling with addiction. Addiction recovery support has fallen short in its ability to promote personal potential and provide hope to the vulnerable individuals in our society.” Despite his key role in the clothing banks inception and heightening of its profile, he will say “There are no awards, presentations or trophies for what we do. Everyone is part of something bigger than themselves. Our goal is to help people rebuild their relationship with themselves, their ability to function, to be gainfully employed, mend broken relationships and restore their faith. That’s a success story!
The Oasis Clothing Bank in North York is a convenient location for donating clothes and items to those in need. Some customers have expressed confusion about the entrance, with the main door being locked and a donation shed located to the side. Signage at the main door would help prevent confusion. One customer mentioned preferring the Oasis Clothing Bank over Value Village. Overall, the organization is appreciated for its charitable work.
