Best Care Kennels is the enduring enterprise built upon Darlene and Norm Sacher's love of animals. Best Care began serving the public of North Bay & area in 1995. Originally from Southern Ontario, the pair moved to North Bay where it's "just north enough to be perfect." Darlene worked as a Vet's Assistant from 1988 to 1990, while also working as a Kennel Assistant and Manager of a 48-stall horse facility from 1987 to 1995. She's been a Professional Groomer for over twenty years. Norm always loved helping out with the animals, and after a 15 year career as a Machinist, left that profession behind to follow their joint-passion of working with animals everyday of their lives. Darlene especially enjoys working on animal behaviour, and learned the skill by working with a high-level dog trainer in the early 90's. Parents of two great kids, and pets of their own, the Sachers take great pleasure in exceeding their customers' expectations. The North Bay and District Humane Society receives countless animal related inquiries on a daily basis. Most calls are about animal welfare issues and can include requests for services that we cannot provide or that are not included in our legal mandate. Although we have affiliated ourselves with the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, there are still guidelines set out to us by our service contract that regulate our actions and jurisdictions. While many calls come to us from a variety of locals, such as Mattawa, Trout Creek, Marten River, or TĂ©miscaming, these areas are actually outside of our contractual service area. This means that, unfortunately, in the case of stray or abandoned animals we cannot step in to help with these areas. People in these communities should be contacting their local animal control officer or municipal office. However, our jurisdictional area extends when dealing specifically with animal cruelty investigations.
