Gary has been in the taxidermy business for 30 years. He learned about bird and fish taxidermy from the master taxidermist, the late Jack Wilson. He has been to many competitions that are held for taxidermists, both here in Canada and in the United States, He has received ribbons in both the fish and bird categories. Gary does all his own taxidermy. Gary can mount fish in many different ways, examples of which can be seen in his shop. When you call him to discuss your mount or come to the shop, you will be able to see different ways of showing off fish, that will suit both you and the area where it will be placed. The price of the mount and how long it will take to complete will depend on the condition of the species, and how you wish it to be mounted. Gary also does custom, competition mounts, which can be more time consuming to do and also more expensive. You can see Gary and his work at many of the local sportsman’s shows in the area. His work has been displayed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. He has had his work featured in the Ottawa Public Library, the Nepean Museum and Chapters Book store. He has spoken to many clubs about taxidermy and done articles for newspapers and magazines. He has also done a television segment on CHRO TV. Come to the shop and see his work - when you are phoning around to find out where to take your trophy, go and see each person’s work. You should not depend on the lowest price, talk to your friends and see who they recommend; check out the local tackle stores to see who they suggest, look in the phone book and go and see the work. The taxidermist should be able to show you that particular fish or bird or at least photographs of ones he has done. This way you know what your mount will look like upon its return to you and you will not be disappointed.
