Established in 1982, the NL Employers’ Council (NLEC) enables employers to present a strong collective voice on employer issues. The Employers’ Council is a vocal advocate for competitive taxes, competitive regulations, and fiscally responsible government budgets. Several recent successes– including the rescinding of card based union certification in 2014 and the reduction of employer workers’ compensation insurance premiums in 2013 – demonstrate our ability to act as an effective voice for the business community.

The Association was established under the name of the Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists of Newfoundland AETTN in 1968 with the sponsorship of the Association of Professional Engineers of Newfoundland. In 1993 AETTN was Incorporated. In recent years, AETTN has been accepting an increasing portion of the financial, staffing and certification load. With increasing membership, the Association has assumed full responsibility and maintained its own office under the directorship of Lynda Hayward as Office Manager.
