CSAI est un organisme à but non lucratif, créé pour accueillir les nouveaux arrivants sans distinction d'origine ethnique, de langue, de croyance et d'opinion politique et pour les aider à s'intégrer à leur nouveau milieu de vie. Fondé en 1947, par l'Institut Notre-Dame du Bon-Conseil de Montréal, le CSAI a accueilli tout au long de ces années une multitude de gens issus de divers groupes ethnoculturels. Pionnier dans le domaine de l'immigration, le CSAI offre depuis ses débuts divers services au nouvel arrivant : orientation, consultation, dépannage, référence, francisation, groupes de soutien, d'information, interprétariat, traduction, recherche de logement, ateliers sur l'emploi, ateliers d'informatique, Internet. Il veut favoriser son adaptation et l'aider à se prendre en charge dès que possible.
