La Maison des Sourds, organisme à but non lucratif, a été fondée en 2001 par un groupe de personnes sourdes et malentendantes dans le but de favoriser l’intégration sociale des personnes sourdes, sourdes-aveugles et malentendantes. Nous pouvons compter, chaque année sur environ 200 membres en plus de loger diverses associations reliées directement au milieu de la surdité. La corporation Maison des sourds est donc propriétaire de l’édifice que l’organisme occupe actuellement et qui est situé au 200, boulevard Crémazie Est, à Montréal. Au fil des années, les nombreux bénévoles qui ont œuvré dans l’organisme ont réussi à aménager des locaux favorisant les activités sociales et permettant à de nombreuses personnes handicapées de venir socialiser dans un environnement qu’elles maîtrisent car à l’intérieur des murs tous communiquent en langage des signes québécois ou LSQ. La Maison des Sourds fait un pas de plus visant l’accessibilité à ses services en créant un site Internet dans lequel vous pourrez trouver la plupart des informations qui la concerne.
