Elle a été crée en 2006 par Tarek Ben Ghorbal, un jeune tunisien venu étudier au Québec en 2003. Étant né dans une famille d'artisans et ayant grandi dans les souks de la médina de Tunis, après avoir fini sa maîtrise en finance de l'Université de Sherbrooke, il décide alors de reproduire cette ambiance du souk dans une boutique marocaine et tunisienne à Montréal qui porte bien son nom. En effet, le mot médina est employé dans les pays du Maghreb pour désigner le vieux quartier de la ville. Un endroit magique ou se réunissent tous les artisans et tous les petits commerçants pour former des souks spécialisés dans la maroquinerie, la poterie, le tissu, le cuivre martelé, les habits traditionnels, les tapis, les babouches et la décoration orientale. Visitez notre boutique marocaine et tunisienne et vous ferez un voyage sur place dans les souks des médinas du Maroc et de la Tunisie et nous vous ferons découvrir toutes ces merveilles dans La Medina de Montréal. Décris souvent par nos clients comme la caverne d'Ali Baba, vous trouverez dans notre boutique les beaux poufs marocains, les babouches marocaines, les lampes marocaines, les services à thé, les tajines, les djellabas, les tuniques marocaines, les tapis berbères, les sacs en cuir, les bijoux en argent... Plusieurs de nos produits artisanaux sont fabriqués dans notre atelier de cuir et de poterie par des artisans de notre famille.
