Usui Reiki Ryoho - or Reiki as it is more commonly known is a non-invasive light touch or no-touch gentle healing art. My journey with Reiki started in 1994 with taking that first step and becoming a entry level practitioner. This soon changed, it became apparent that I wanted to learn more not only with my existing teacher but out in the wider Reiki community. In 2002, at a Reiki conference I had the great good fortune to meet my current teacher, Hyakuen Inamoto - a Buddhist monk who lives in Japan. Our teacher developed a Reiki style - Komyo ReikiDo. It is this Japanese style I use in my private practice. Our motto is "Place hands and surrender" - there is nothing to do, except be mindfully present. It is through our actions as Komyo practitioners that we simulate the innate healing response that each individual possesses. Our clients remain fully clothed through the Reiki session, as Reiki is experiential some may feel heat coming off the practitioner's hands. Others may feel cold, tingling or possibly nothing at all. Some clients experience Reiki slumber - where they are awake but feel like they are asleep, in either case everyone feels refreshed once the session is complete. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose ailments, nor do they suggest a client stop taking any prescribed medication. Through Lorinda's Hospice experience and other research she wrote a book "Integrative Healing Merging with Modern Medicine" (2013) - it is a practical guide for the Complementary Therapist who wishes to become more professional. She offered Reiki as a volunteer at Hospice Simcoe for 15 years and was co-founder of a hospital Reiki program to reduce staff burn-out. I am passionate about assisting others on their journey of personal wellness. It would be my pleasure to share the benefits of Reiki with you. Let's reduce the stress and anxiety, promote personal well-being, improve mood and sleep and Reiki may reduce pain.
