La Fondation de l’Hôpital de Matane est une corporation sans but lucratif, non subventionnée, qui, tout en sollicitant l’aide du public, a pour but de contribuer à l’amélioration des services de santé sur le territoire de la MRC de Matane. Le mouvement débuta le 25 janvier 1982, à l’occasion d’une rencontre d’information avec les groupes représentatifs de tous les coins du territoire. La participation à cette rencontre fut très bonne et sur-le-champ, un groupe de sept personnes s’est montré fermement intéressé à travailler à la mise sur pied de la Fondation.
