With around 600 000 members across Canada, CUPE represents workers in health care, education, municipalities, libraries, universities, social services, public utilities, transportation, emergency services and airlines. The secondary function of Trustees is to review the way that the Secretary-Treasurer is doing his or her job and to suggest ways that the financial affairs of the local could be improved. CUPE is opposed to services being delivered by the lowest bidder. The drive towards the lowest bid is a “race to the bottom” for public sector workers and the services they provide.
