L'Arche Lethbridge belongs to the International Federation of L'Arche, who's mission is to live together in community where our lives are signs of hope and love. L'Arche communities celebrate the unique value of every person and recognize the need for one another . Mutual relationships and trust in God are at the heart of our lives together. L'Arche began in 1964 when Canadian, Jean Vanier, invited two men with intellectual disabilities to live with him in Trosly-Breuil, a french village north east of Paris, France. He named the home L'Arche (which is french for ark) after the biblical story of Noah's Ark. Today, there are over 130 communities in more than 30 countries.
