It should come as no surprise that, from the place that gave us Reginald Fessenden and the first public radio broadcast on Christmas Eve, 1906, the idea of a community radio station has had deep roots. While serious plans go back as far as the mid-1950s, it was in 1998 that two ladies from the Mansonville area took the first definitive step. In that year Deanna Goldberg and Jane Hamilton registered the name ‘Radio Communautaire Missisquoi, complete with corporate charter and letters patent. In 1999, Susan Reininger, from Call’s Mills, joined the new company as president. One year later, Dewey Durrell of Foster became the newest member of the Board of Directors, in the role of vice-president. In 2002 he was elected president, a post he held until 2009.
