The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation (The KWCF) helps make a lasting difference in our community. The KWCF is a charity for charities. Although we don't provide charitable services, we do help community organizations make a difference by providing them with funds for new programs, capital needs, student awards and much more. When you make a donation or gift to The KWCF, we invest that gift into a permanent endowment fund - reserved trusts. Your original gift is not spent. It generates income that is then distributed through grants to support a wide range of charitable causes within our community. It is through these grants that we help you make that lasting difference.

The Canadian Red Cross mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world. The Canadian Red Cross is the leading humanitarian organization through which people voluntarily demonstrate their caring for others in need. Our network is vast but our approach is simple. All Red Cross programs and activities are guided by the fundamental principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality. These principles allow us to provide help immediately to whoever needs it, wherever they are, whatever their race, political beliefs, religion, social status or culture. Many refugees arrive in Canada with few resources and minimal knowledge of the services that can provide help. The Red Cross provides services from assistance securing employment to family reunification through our global network. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, co-operation and lasting peace amongst all peoples. It makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It endeavours to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress. In order to continue to enjoy the confidence of all, the Movement may not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature. The Movement is independent. The National Societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with the principles of the Movement. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in which all Societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other, is world-wide
