Chalmers is a community of God’s People who embrace Christian traditions and encourage new ideas. We gather to: Celebrate God’s love Search and be challenged Nurture and be nurtured We seek to: Welcome all who come; Engage all ages in ministry; Be guided by faith in daily life; and Be a compassionate, hopeful presence in the world We are not alone. Thanks be to God. To pursue this vision and mission, we encourage the maximum participation by all our members and thereby ensure the most effective stewardship of all our resources. We recognize the congregation to be our fundamental unit of organization. The congregation meets at least twice a year - in December, and in May/June. Between the meetings of the whole congregation, the Coordinating Council of Elders is empowered to carry forward the work of the congregation in fulfilling its mission. The Moderator chairs the Council which meets monthly. It co-ordinates and gives direction to the various committees, hears reports, identifies and clears items of work to be done by more then one committee, makes proposals for budget and long-range planning. The Coordinating Council of Elders is comprised of the chairpersons or the representatives of the standing committees, all the lay representatives to Presbytery, the chairperson of the Board of Trustees as well as the Moderator and the Clerk of the Congregation. The ministerial staff and the music director are ex-officio members. Members-at-large may be added as required.
