Prior to being called to the Ontario Bar, Margaret earned a B.A. in Political Science from McMaster University and JD from Osgoode Hall Law School. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association. Margaret is a former Mayor of King Township and Councillor for the Regional Municipality of York. She was elected to these positions in 1994, and was re-elected in 1997, 2000, 2003 and 2006. Ms. Black is a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Award and the Rural Female Politician Award. She has served as a Director of Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, as a member of the Greater Toronto Agricultural Action Board, as the former Chair of the York Region Police Services Board, and as a Director of the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.
