In the early 1930's, Kamloops shooters amalgamated with the "Canadian National Recreation Association", a small-bore rifle club, under the name "Rocky Mountain Rangers Rifle Association". We shot targets in the basement of a local hardware store at that time and later used the drill Hall basement on Battle Street. The Gold Range east of the city limits was used for outdoor shooting. During World War 11 civilian shooting ceased but continued for the Rock Mountain Rangers Militia Unit members.
The Kamloops Target Sports Association is a well-regarded shooting range offering both indoor and outdoor facilities. Members enjoy helpful range officers, a variety of shooting disciplines, and reasonable prices. The indoor range features 8 lanes, while the outdoor facility includes a short range (50m) and archery range. Prices start at around $100 per year for shooters. The club also boasts a long history, dating back to the late 1800s, and is known as the best in the region. Staff members are described as friendly and accommodating.

The Kamloops Sexual Assault Counselling Centre's purpose is to provide free, client centred support services to victims of sexual assault, child sexualized abuse, domestic violence and sexual harassment. Our goals include: Providing supportive, feminist-driven counselling that helps empower individuals to take charge of their lives and overcome all forms of sexualized violence. Providing education on the issues to both adults and children. Supporting victims through the legal system so that more victims are encouraged to report their abuse and more offenders are brought to both justice and therapy for their behaviours. Teaching victims the assertiveness skills and the positive self-image necessary to avoid revictimization. Supporting women in their quest for social and economic equality. Supporting men in their quest to understand these issues and to heal from their own abuse issues.

Kamloops Family Resources Society is a non-profit society and registered Canadian charity. Our vision is a community where families have the support and personal capacity to overcome life’s challenges and reach their desired potential. At our Family Tree Family Centre, families enjoy a warm and respectful environment where they find support in each other, in visiting professionals, and in the caring staff who understand how to connect people with the help they need. At our drop-in program, families can find healthy food, peer-based social support, connections to professional services, clothing and baby equipment, a family health library, health and parenting workshops, children’s circle time and other special events and activities. Some of our programs address the often hidden issue of Mothers struggling with substance use issues. We believe that the best way to stay clean and sober is to help others stay clean and sober. Our Mothers for Recovery Support Group provides a safe, non-judgmental, nurturing environment where moms can heal and share. We build trust, relationships, and new lives for those who have been or are pregnant and seek recovery from substance use. Our Mothers for Recovery Mentorship program connects mentees (moms new to recovery) with mentors (moms with at least one year clean and sober). Mentors and mentees find support in each other and in a variety of educational sessions and professional services.
