The Barnhartvale Community Association is a non-profit organization which maintains and manages the Barnhartvale Community Hall. The Barnhartvale Community Hall is used by community groups, private renters, and city of Kamloops preschool programs. Barnhartvale was originally referred to as Campbell Creek or Campbell’s Creek until 1909. It is now named after Peter Barnhart, who was the conductor on the first CPR train though Kamloops. He moved to Campbell Creek and opened a post office in 1909 and the name was changed to Barnhartvale Post. In 1978 the spelling was formally changed to one word, Barnhartvale.
