The Bridge Program grew out of a desire to provide a greater follow-up after incarceration to help ex-offenders adjust to reintegration in the community. 1970-1990– Pastoral support was provided in the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre but a need for more support was obvious. An Ecumenical Committee helped to structure a Board of Directors in 1988 and the Bridge Program was finally incorporated in 1990. 1990-2001– Self-Help Groups functioned within HWDC and at Calvin Grace Church with support for Discharge Planning. In 1994, the Family Support group was established.
