En mars 2002, l’honorable Denis Coderre, ministre de la Citoyenneté et de l’Immigration annonçait la création du Comité directeur Citoyenneté et Immigration Canada – Communautés francophones en situation minoritaire. Réunissant des représentants communautaires, des employés cadres de Citoyenneté et Immigration Canada (CIC) et des représentants d’autres ministères fédéraux et provinciaux, ce comité a reçu le mandat de veiller à mettre en place les conditions facilitant le recrutement, la sélection, l’accueil et l’intégration des nouveaux arrivants au sein des communautés francophones en situation minoritaire.
