Green Venture is Hamilton’s premiere environmental non-profit organization. We find innovative ways to make our community a better place to live, work and play everyday. Founded in 1994 as a creation of the former region of Hamilton-Wentworth, Green Venture was originally designed as an umbrella group to connect a number of smaller environmental organizations. The organization's strong network and forward-thinking abilities allowed it to quickly emerge as the lead agency to promote sustainable living ideas, including the use of Blue Boxes and Green Bins; both of which are now central systems among homes in the region. Other pioneered systems include rain barrels and energy audits.
