The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is the Canadian national police service and an agency of the Ministry of Public Safety Canada. Grand Falls - Windsor District was established in 1996 when the RCMP in Newfoundland and Labrador implemented the district policing model throughout the province. The district is headquartered at Grand Falls-Windsor and includes storefront offices in Botwood and Conne River, and detachments in Springdale, Buchans, Bay D’Espoir and Harbour Breton. The district is staffed with 38 regular members and 7 district assistants, a community policing coordinator, as well a contingent of auxiliary members, gaol guards and matrons.
