The Gibsons Cinema was first established as the Twilight Theatre in 1965 in a building originally designed by Arthur Erickson. Now operating as the Gibsons Cinema, the building has become a community landmark over the years and still retains its unique layout and funky scooped floor design. The Gibsons Cinema was the first single screen cinema in Canada to convert to Dolby Digital 3D. We feature a fully digital system - Digital surround-sound audio, Digital projector, and Dolby Digital 3D. The Gibsons Cinema has chosen Dolby 3D Digital Cinema for it's high-quality 3D images and environmentally friendly reusable glasses. The theatre itself features 132 seats and has a marvellous original wood stage capable of handling live acts. Out in the lobby is a concession stand where a wide selection of affordably priced snacks are available, and for your convenience there is plenty of free parking right outside our door. Our facility can be rented out for seminars, training, corporate events, and live shows. If you want to promote your business, you can show your full-colour ad on our big screen during our pre-show at very reasonable rates. We also offer private screenings of movies for school groups, day cares, companies, seniors groups, youth groups, teams and other associations. Call or email us for details and pricing. Sunshine Coast Driftwood Players Association Driftwood Players, a registered non-profit society, has been entertaining audiences on the Sunshine Coast for more than 40 years. During that time audiences have sat in school gyms, church and community halls, and out-of-doors. Since April 2000, Driftwood Players has had a home of its own at the Heritage Playhouse. Driftwood Players has given the Gibsons Landing Heritage Society (GLHS) financial and moral support in their project of restoring and running the Heritage Playhouse, so that everyone in the community, from youngsters to seniors, may have a venue for the performing arts. Driftwood Players are honoured to be able to put on productions in the Heritage Playhouse, to support the performing arts on the Sunshine Coast and to provide income for the Heritage Playhouse.
