Dave has a vast record of experience counselling individuals, couples, and families across the life span. His experience includes 35 years of helping children, youth, adults and seniors in a variety of settings in B. Since 1975, Dave has worked in Child and Youth Care, as a Child and Youth Mental Health Therapist, Social Worker, Educator, Supervisor, leader and trainer. The constellation of experience, combined with a unique therapeutic approach provides individuals, couples and families with a framework to find solutions to life's challenges in a calm, focused environment. "People..moving mountains" is a reflection of Dave's belief that even some of life's largest challenges can be successfully addressed through the counselling process. Dave has also worked in the community for over twenty years raising money to provide services to children who face life threatening illnesses. Dave was a founding member, along with the late Mike Flanagan, of the team of caring educators that formed the Walk-a-thon for Kids with Cancer Society in 1989 to assist families of B. sick children. The Walkathon Society has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in order to provide direct financial grants to families of children being treated at B. Children's Hospital. Dave was also a co-founding member of the team that initially brought a chapter of the Starlight Children's Foundation to British Columbia. Dave continues his work for Starlight by providing motivational " Mattering" workshops to the public to assist in the work of Starlight B. These workshops have been attended by professionals in the health, education and mental health community both locally and at nationally attended conferences since 1996. Of equal importance, they have also been presented to individuals or families around a kitchen table or a warm fire when requested.
