Since its creation in 1940, the Canadian Picture Pioneers has grown to over 1000 members in five branches across Canada. The organization is dedicated to the support and well-being of all members of the motion picture industry in Canada. The organization was founded by a group of 19 prominent members of the motion picture industry, meeting in January in 1940 at Toronto’s King Edward Hotel. The Canadian Picture Pioneers attracts members from all levels of the industry for two main reasons. Firstly, the social events combine all levels of industry and an opportunity to network and socialize. Secondly, the Trust Fund, maintained by the Pioneers, offers support to industry individuals and families and others in need.
