Camp Meywasin was founded by a group of Scouters from Camp Woods. These Scouters, known as The Order of the Grey Goose, came from all parts of Alberta. In 1943 they toured Lake Wabamun by canoe. Camp Meywasin opened in 1945 as an "OPEN CAMP" for Scouts from the north half of Alberta (Red Deer North). The Order of the Grey Goose was incorporated in 1945/06/07 as non-profit. Camp Meywasin is subsidized by volunteer service and fundraising. Our purpose is to provide facilities for children and youth to achieve the outdoor camping experience. The volunteers of the Meywasin Community Service Association are here to provide youth groups with a subsidized camping experience. Without our hard working volunteers, maintaining the camp and fundraising, we would not be able to offer this affordable camp
