He then entered the University of Alberta for his pre-veterinarian education. After graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974, he practiced in Edmonton for two years prior to opening the Millwoods Animal Clinic in 1976. In October 1995, Dr. Claffey relocated his practice to a modern, free-standing veterinary hospital in south Edmonton, the Animal Medical Centre.
