United Steelworkers Local 1-1937 is an amalgamation of several of the old I. A Local Unions that merged together over the years. Locals 1-80, 1-363 and 1-2171 merged in 2009 to form what is now Local 1-1937. The moniker 1937 was chosen as that was the first year that the IWA had formed a local union on the Coast of BC.
