Ruth has been playing the piano since age 5. By age 11, she had received the Royal Conservatory of Music Diploma Grade VIII, Honours and Grade II Theory Diploma, First Class Honours. At the same time, she assisted her Mother, Alice Cestnick ( a well-known piano teacher in Scarborough) with her piano classes. Ruth was a candidate in many York Music Festivals where there were about 50 candidates who competed by playing the same piece of music. Each time she competed, she placed in the top three. It is my aim that each student will learn to play this beautiful instrument to the best of his/her ability and by doing so, would discover how rewarding and enjoyable it is to play “music to your OWN ears.
