Yard Basics, Brantford, ON

Established in 2007, Yard Basics began as a seed collection and tree potting program in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources. Two greenhouses support the potting program that has resulted in the sale and planting of more then 6000 white cedar and spruce trees throughout the community. The seed collection program operates during the early fall period in which seed collectors clear nut and seed from area properties and sell to local nurseries. Nurseries grow the seed into seedlings which are sold back to Yard Basics for the potting program. In 2009, Yard Basics expanded to include Lawn and Garden Care providing lawn and garden services to area homeowners and businesses.
