The Thunder Bay Community Auditorium is proudly located at 1 Paul Shaffer Drive. On Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, Paul Shaffer came home to Thunder Bay for a celebration of his tremendous career and success in show business. Fans lined up outside the Community Auditorium to catch a glimpse of the famed musician who is best known as the bandleader on The Late Show With David Letterman .
The evening included a series of very special moments. It all began with a troupe of kilted bag pipers leading Paul down a red carpet as local dignitaries paid tribute to him and officially dedicated Paul Shaffer Drive. The evening ended with a sold-out three-and-a-half hour musical extravaganza that many still consider one of the best shows to grace the Auditorium's Stage.
The vestibule of the Auditorium proudly features a display of memorabilia from the event along with memorabilia from Paul's amazing career.
