Guy Martel, F. A. C. A. gmartel@gml-act.ca 613-232-1643 ext. 212 Guy is originally from Trois-Rivières. He obtained his B. from Laval University in 1982 where he completed undergraduate studies in Actuarial Science. He then became a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries in 1987 and 1988, respectively. For many years, Guy volunteered his time towards the preparation and grading of exams for the Society of Actuaries. He is currently part of the Task Force of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries to develop skills and knowledge inventories to support members’ continuing professional development. When he’s not hard at work, Guy’s three sons manage to keep him very busy. Amelia Burns aburns@gml-act.ca 613-232-1643 ext. 210 Amelia is interning as an actuarial analyst with GML. She was raised in Ottawa. Amelia graduated from Queen’s University in 2011 with a B. Honours. She completed her undergraduate studies in Discrete Mathematics and Optimization. Upon graduating, Amelia discovered her interest in actuarial science. She was drawn to the applied, concrete nature of the science and so she embarked on the exam process. At GML, Amelia is given the opportunity to gain hands on experience in the fields of civil litigation and marriage breakdown. Amelia plans on becoming a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and looks forward to exploring all areas of actuarial science. In her spare time, Amelia enjoys reading, music and spending time with friends and family.
