Roots Dojo, Denman Island, BC

We currently offer training at 2 locations in British Columbia, Canada. Our main Dojo is tucked away in the beautiful rainforest in Denman Island (off of Vancouver Island). Here, our martial arts program includes ongoing classes twice a day from Monday-Friday. If you prefer to train in an urban environment, we also offer classes in Vancouver and throughout the Lower Mainland.
If you are interested in peer-led training, there is also a Systema study group in Victoria, BC that is conducted by the students of Roots Dojo.
In addition to ongoing classes, our Denman Island branch offers frequent martial art and systema retreats, set in the rugged backdrop of our woodland dojo. Join us for a week, or join us for a year; you will not be disappointed!

About the School
Our unique school offers much more than Martial arts and self defence. Unlike many gyms, dojos, clubs and martial arts school, ours is a one of a kind educational facility where training is not an activity, but a way of life.
The curriculum is complex- from health, conditioning, fitness, communications and close protection, to team work, martial history, philosophy, weapons, strategies, stealth, students will carefully and methodically be exposed to the vastness of conflict, violence, harmony and serenity all of which are part of the Warrior’s path.
Along the way, our students learn skills that will stay with them while walking the face of this earth.
