Sport medicine is the study and practice of medical principles related to the science of sports and physical activity, particularly in the areas of: Diagnosis and treatment; Injury prevention; Sports training and athletic performance. Sport medicine physicians and orthopaedic surgeons care for individuals of all ages and abilities. They promote well being through physical activity and prevent illness due to inactivity.
Physiotherapists, athletic therapists and osteopaths at Pivot have detailed knowledge of the human body and understand the factors that can predispose you to injury, such as poor posture, poor body mechanics, muscle imbalances, and disease (e.g., osteoarthritis and osteoporosis). All of the physiotherapists at Pivot have completed advanced orthopaedic studies in manual and manipulative therapy. The Chiropractors at Pivot focus on how the body’s muscular, skeletal and nervous systems are functioning. They specialize in treating all regions of the body for injury management and individual performance enhancement using techniques such as ART, Activator technique and gentle manipulation.
Other services include custom orthotics, gait analysis, massage therapy, acupuncture and osteopathy. Pivot also has consultant nutritionists and hand therapists.
Physician visits are covered by OHIP or WSIB. Non physician visits may be covered by extended health benefits.
