Description
Pi Beta Phi was founded on August 28, 1867 at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois. Our 12 founders had a vision to form the first national secret society for women at a time when only five state universities admitted women. We pride ourselves in being the first national secret college society of women to be modelled after the Greek-letter fraternities. There are currently 135 Pi Beta Phi chapters across the United States and Canada with over 241, 000 members.
Pi Beta Phi is dedicated to philanthropic and community service efforts that will remove the barrier of illiteracy. As a Chapter we hold multiple fundraisers to raise money to provide books for underprivileged children. We accomplish our goal through First Book and Pi Beta Phi Foundation. All our members volunteer regularly, working with Frontier College or the Volunteer Readers Programme.
