Description

Kathleen Taylor of Curve Lake First Nation founded the Ontario Native Welfare Administrator's Association (ONWAA) in 1972.

ONWAA originated through First Nation Social Service Administrators meetings to discuss common practices in the delivery of social assistance in Ontario. This process continued until ONWAA organized and became an incorporated entity in the Province of Ontario in 1989. During this period ONWAA was further complimented with the services of an Executive Director.
