Mary Plahouras has been a restructuring professional with MNP’s Insolvency & Restructuring group in Toronto for over 8 years. She specializes in assisting individuals, small businesses and corporations in managing all aspects of bankruptcies and proposals to creditors. Mary provides initial consultations to consumers and companies in financial distress and continues to work alongside clients all the way through to trustee discharge. Mary’s professional career combines experience in forensic and investigative accounting and substantial experience in insolvency matters. Mary has conducted hundreds of financial appraisal interviews with consumer and corporate debtors, including advising them of the statutory and non-statutory options available while discussing and reviewing the merits and consequences of their choices. Experienced at finding practical solutions to financial difficulties, Mary consults with and advises clients on their options while helping them manage their financial difficulties with confidence. Mary received an Honours Bachelor degree with a Specialization in Management from the University of Toronto, is a Certified Fraud Examiner, a registered Insolvency Counsellor, has completed the intensive five-year Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional Qualification Program (formerly NIQP), through the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (CAIRP), and completed her LLM in Bankruptcy and Insolvency law at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University.
