Merit is a private, owner-managed company established in 1991 by its current shareholders Michael Merrithew and Louise de Grandpré. MeritBiz is our original business which operates from offices in Toronto and Montreal and provides customized travel programs for professional firms across Canada. While Merit’s core business is corporate travel, our experience in other travel businesses helps us provide you with a full service travel management company.

Since 1991, Merit has grown to become the largest privately held specialty travel company in Canada serving over 500,000 travellers a year with a staff of over 460 people located at more than 50 offices across the country. Industry involvement is important in maintaining relationships for your business, which is why our CEO, Michael Merrithew is an active member of the travel industry. In 2006, he completed his term as Chair and Director of the Association of Canadian Travel Agents (ACTA). Michael remains a Director and is Past Chair of the ACTA Ontario Regional Council, is currently a Director and Past Chair of The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO), a Director of the Canadian Corporate Travel Association (CCTA), a Member of the Vacation.com Canadian & International Advisory Boards and is the Past President of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) for Eastern Canada.
