John Liddle is a Windsor, Ontario criminal defence lawyer. He was called to the bar in 1990 and is a member in good standing of the governing body for Ontario lawyers, the Law Society of Upper Canada. He has been a sole practitioner concentrating on the practice of criminal law since 1992. He has experience in handling all manner of criminal cases in all levels of criminal courts in Ontario. John Liddle was President of the Windsor Criminal Lawyers’ Association, 2001 - 2003. He was the Windsor Regional Director of the Ontario Criminal Lawyers’ Association from 1999-2002. His academic background consists of an Honours Degree in English, a Masters Degree in English, and a Bachelor of Laws, all from the University of Windsor. Liddle has taught the Criminal Law course at the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law, as well as the interdisciplinary course, Forensic Evidence and the Canadian Legal System. He co-authored a paper on “Damaged, Destroyed or Lost Evidence”, which was presented to the criminal law branch of the Ontario Bar Association symposium on Forensic Evidence, in January 2006. He has taught at the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Bar Admission Course on “Defending the Mentally Ill Client”, “Disclosure”, and “Crown and Accused Elections”. He has also lectured at the Ontario Crown Attorneys’ Association Summer School on “Reciprocal Disclosure: A Defence Perspective”. He has been a guest instructor at the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law, course in Civil Trial Advocacy regarding techniques in examination and cross-examination of expert witnesses. He has also spoken frequently on issues related to representing the mentally ill client, is a frequent judge at University of Windsor First Year Moots, and has been a guest lecturer on criminal trial law at St. Clair College, Windsor. He has also published several articles concerning criminal cases of local historical interest.
