Charles Herriot is a fully trained graphic artist, copywriter, copyeditor, speechwriter, audiovisual editor, tech savvy business analyst, public speaker and corporate communications practitioner all rolled into one. As an honours graduate (1989) from York University’s prestigious School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (formerly known as York’s Faculty of Fine Arts), Charles was educated in all of the fine arts disciplines including Visual Arts, Film, Theatre, Art History, Music and Dance. His field of interdisciplinary study and training also included Fine Arts studio work in addition to theory, with a particular emphasis on screenwriting, playwriting, film editing, theatre production and design. In 1995, Charles also graduated with Honours from Seneca@York’s esteemed
Public Relations - Corporate Communications post graduate program, the only public relations program in Canada to be certified by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and officially recognized by the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). Through his post graduate field of study, Charles became fully trained in all facets of corporate communications including Graphic Design, Media Relations, Journalism, Advanced Presentation Skills, Speech Writing, Research, Critical Thinking Skills, Internal and External Communications and Managing Stakeholder Relations. Charles considers fluid creativity to be his greatest asset, but also understands the importance of balancing lateral and linear thinking in equal measure. Cultivating creativity by sowing the seeds of wild imagination from which ideas spring up and imagination blooms allows for pruning and editing of these ideas through the process of critical thinking. This is the most effective way to create meaningful messages that provide clarity with powerful impact and this is what Herriot Visual Communications does best.
