Goat Lake employs about 50 employees making it the 2nd biggest forestry employer in the Powell River area. Owners Rory Maitland and Howie McKamey believe that a community based hiring program is essential to the success of their company. Community Involvement Goat Lake believes in contributing to create a strong sense of community. In recent years, Goat Lake has: b een a major financial contributor to the Powell River Kings hockey club; volunteered time, services and equipment to lift out an old Steam Donkey from Powell Lake for the Powell River Forestry Museum sponsored community events such as the Loon Lake Race.
