Fort McMurray Victim Services

Victim Services is a non-profit organization, established in 1987, and is funded by the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and The Office of the Solicitor General to provide advocacy to victims of crime and tragedy. We provide information to victims on financial benefits, restitution and victim impact statements. The agency provides support to victims of crime and tragedy from the time of crisis through and beyond conclusion of the court process. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to our clients. The agency provides immediate emotional and physical support during an event, as well as confidentiality and anonymity from non-judgmental, respectful, empathetic professional individuals, who are culturally sensitive and don't discriminate against any people groups.
Services include, but are not limited to, court preparation and support, referral services, appointment accompaniment, legal system navigation and education, crisis intervention and support, with an in-depth involvement in collaborative efforts with government and non-government agencies and services. We focus on ongoing training to ensure that our advocates and staff are properly educating and informing our clients. Fort McMurray Victim Services is guided by a clear code of conduct and bound by the strictest of professional ethics.
